Making a referral to RIVO
Our services are free. We provide individual psychotherapy and / or massage therapy for individuals who have been traumatised by an experience of organised violence, and who are seeking help in managing the consequences of this violence. Our therapists come from a variety of different cultural, academic and professional backgrounds, and speak a wide variety of languages. Where necessary, we work with qualified interpreters.
Individuals may self-refer to our organisation by calling our office, but we prefer referrals to come from a qualified professional (medical profession, social worker, mental health profession, community worker, ...) who has already met with the person and identified our services as an appropriate response to his / her need. A phone call to our office (514-282-0661) is enough to establish whether or not we can / will take on a particular individual, but we will usually then ask that an intake form be filled out by the referring professional. This form will provide the basic information needed to open a file, including an overview of the kind of violence experienced, and a portrait of the presenting symptoms.
