Forest management planning is a challenging endeavor!
Not only are the forests of northeastern Ontario both complex and diverse ecological system that must be well understood in order to make sound decisions about their management, but the people of northern Ontario also have a variety of needs and interests in the forest. And some times they are different, or even in conflict! Add to that the number of wildlife species that depend on a healthy forest for their survival, and the growing uncertainties about how the forests will adapt the influences of global warming and a changing climate.
