Forest Management Planning - the Public Consultation Process

"Bump-Ups"

Requests for Individual Environmental Assessment

"Bump Up"  Requests  -Those issues which have not been satisfactorilly resolved through the planning exercise or through the issue resolution process can be appealed to the Ministry of the Environment by requesting an individual environmental assessment.

Called a "bump up" request, the appeal can request that specific proposed forest management activities or specific aspects of the plan, such as a specific activity or particular proposed harvest area, be the subject of an individual environmental assesment.

The Ministry of the Environment will take into account what efforts were made to resolve the issue through the forest management planning excercise and the related issue resolution process.

Under the current planning process, the only option available to address issues that emerge only in the inspection of the approved plan is through the "bump up" process.
