FAQs

I don't know anything about technology, websites or the Internet. I know my organization needs a website. Can you help?

Yes! We won't talk to you using technical jargon. We won't give you a website with fancy gizmos that are not useful. We will work within your budget. In fact, the best websites are made when non-technical people express what they want in non-technical language. We are experts in gathering requirements from people just like you, and producing attractive, functional websites.

I want to put up a website in support of my campaign. How can you help?

Web Networks "Petition" tool can plug into your existing or new website and allows visitors to send an e-mail message to MPs, MPPs(Ontario), the Senate, or any person you as a site manager designates. Petition has a very cool postal code to MP or MPP lookup function. As well, Petition captures the information entered by site visitors, allowing you to follow up with campaign updates, or make subsequent membership or donation requests.

Are there any hidden costs for a website development project?

If you are planning to improve your current website, or build a new website from scratch, the following costs should be budgeted: planning and requirements setting, graphic design, content management system set-up and configuration, as well as monthly hosting fees. Many of our clients are continually adding new features and sections to their website in support of new campaigns, courses, or events, and thus Web Networks also offers a monthly maintenance package for groups that for example wish to engage our team for 2-4 hours a month.

Do you only work with non-profit organizations?

Many of our clients come from non-profit, charitable, union, and government sectors, and they appreciate Web Neworks' own non-profit status and understanding of the unique requirements of groups operating from a mission-driven, ethical base.

However we also work with individuals and private enterprises who share our values,  and want to support and benefit from our work--see for example our recent site for a unique artisan organization, Shepherd's Watch.

How much can I expect to pay to develop a website?

Web Networks offers a range of websites for organizations: free blogs, affordable hosting packages if you are building your own website, and custom website development services. If you are building a new site or upgrading your current site, costs tend to fall into these rough categories:

  1. $5,000 - $7,500 for a website with your own customized, clean and simple design, and a content management system allowing you to easily add and manage text, graphics and files
  2. $15,000 - $25,000 for a more extensive graphic design process, private areas for staff committees, and multiple languages.
  3. $50,000+ for a serious graphic design process, public and private areas, and more complex workflow, such as online registrations and data transfer.

Does Web Networks do e-commerce?

Yes we do. If you need assistance setting up a simple single donation page, course or event registration, or a full online store, we can quickly and affordably have you accepting credit card payments, capturing all data while maintaining complete industry-standard privacy and security. Examples of Web Networks  ecommerce projects include the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario and Shepherd's Watch .
